Dear Friends, Partners, and Visitors,

Welcome to the Tanzania Rural Health Movement (TRHM).

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our platform and to share with you the journey, work, and aspirations of a movement that began with a simple conviction: every person, regardless of where they live or their circumstances, deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and dignified life.

Since our establishment, TRHM has grown from a grassroots community initiative into a movement working across community health, emergency response, primary healthcare, street medicine, health innovation, research, environmental sustainability, and health systems strengthening. Our work is rooted in the belief that meaningful and sustainable change happens when communities are not only beneficiaries, but active partners in identifying and addressing the challenges that affect their health and wellbeing.

One of our defining commitments has been our work with street-connected children and other underserved populations through our Street Medicine Project. For more than a decade, we have taken healthcare beyond conventional facilities and into the streets, reaching people who are often among the hardest to reach and easiest to overlook. This experience has strengthened our conviction that healthcare must be accessible, compassionate, inclusive, and responsive to the realities of the communities we serve.

Through initiatives such as the Mwanza Community Emergency Response Project, we are also investing in communities as first responders. By training community members, boda boda drivers, police officers, and other frontline actors, and connecting them through emergency response systems and technology, we are working to ensure that help can reach people when every minute matters.

Through Bisou Bailey Medical Dispensary, research, partnerships, innovation, and our work in Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Health, we continue to explore practical approaches to strengthening access to quality healthcare and building more resilient health systems.

Our journey has been made possible by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, community members, partners, donors, researchers, healthcare professionals, and friends across Tanzania and beyond. We believe that collaboration is at the heart of sustainable impact. No single organization can address complex health challenges alone.

As we look toward the future, TRHM remains committed to expanding community-driven solutions, strengthening evidence and innovation, empowering communities, and building partnerships that contribute to a healthier and more equitable Tanzania.
